Vanishing Glass is a colourway inspired by one of my favourite scenes in the first book/film of Harry Potter the Philosopher's Stone.
This is a 5 stripe repeat including one wide speckled stripe!
The first colour is the green which represents the foliage. Next the speckled stripe which is cream speckled with black and a fawn colour to represent the colour of the snake. The grey stripe represents the glass. A burgundy red for Harry ⚡ & finally a black stripe to end which makes me think of the Dursley family.
So a 5 stripe repeat as follows:
Green (2-3 rows)
wide stripe of speckled snake colour (5-6 rows)
Grey (2-3 rows)
Burgundy Red (2-3 rows)
Black (2-3 rows)
Available to order on the following yarn bases:
100g Merino/Nylon - 100g 75% superwash merino 25% nylon (100g/400m fingering weight)
50g Merino/Nylon - 50g 75% superwash merino 25% nylon (50g/200m fingering weight)
The self striping main skein comes with a 20g green mini skein to knit contrasting heels, toes & cuffs. This will be sent to you on the same base as the main skein.
Based on gauge of 10 stitches per inch you will get 2-3 rows per stripe. I used a 2.5mm needle & knitted my sock using the 75% sw merino/25% nylon base.
The yarn is hand dyed in small batches with professional dyes in a smoke-free environment.
All yarns are sent out in a skein/hank.
Though this yarn is washable, I recommend hand-washing your finished object with a wool wash such as euculan. Minimal colour bleeding may occur during the first few washes, so please wash apart from other items.
